The Diocese of Sioux City territory encompasses the 24 most northwest counties of Iowa with around 89,000 Catholics. The diocese was erected in January 1902. Our bishop is John E. Keehner, ordained as our bishop May 1, 2025.
We are rural and have much diversity with parishioners from Mexico, Central America, South America, Vietnam, Laos, Micronesia and others.
Our parishes have Masses offered in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and occasionally in French.
We have 14 Catholic school systems to offer a faith-based choice in education for our families.
