Letters of Good Standing for Priests and Deacons

For a priest, a deacon or a member of a religious community of the Diocese of Sioux City who is planning to be a speaker or preacher or presider outside the Diocese of Sioux City, kindly complete the request for a “letter of suitability” to be sent to the appropriate diocese, at least one month in advance by either:

Please provide Maria with the following information:

• Your name
• Verification that you are current on your Virtus training bulletins
• Date of your most recent background check
• Diocese you are visiting
• Name of parish or venue
• Name of city 
• Date of the Mass or event
• Name of pastor/contact person and an email address
• Reason for request (i.e. celebrate/concelebrate Mass, wedding, funeral, attend a conference, etc.)
• If conferring a sacrament, include the name(s) of those for whom you are celebrating the sacrament
• Please specify all ministries you will be exercising (i.e., celebrate Mass and perform a baptism, hear confessions while attending a retreat)

Celebret Card:
If you will be traveling outside the United States and will be conducting ministry of any kind during your trip abroad, we require a minimum of a one month notice ahead of your departure date.  A Celebret card will be issued following the same Safe Environment requirements. Protocol for Laity Speakers within and from outside the Diocese
The Chancellor's Office will no longer issue Letters of Good Standing for Lay people.  Please contact your parish pastor to secure a letter or other document to confirm your good standing

When hosting a laity speaker even from within our own Diocese, a Letter of Good Standing from the person’s pastor is required for every time an event is hosted at a parish | school | other organization.
